How to Level Up Your Health

I grew up in a family that never drank water. Only soda. And rarely did we have veggies with dinner. I played sports in high school, but beyond that never went to the gym. And when I was 17, my sister committed suicide, and I immediately totaled my car, giving me intense neck and back pain for years to come. All of this was so terrible, that I sought not only pain relief, but a lifestyle change that I could adopt so I never had to feel that way again. When I moved to LA, I discovered a few great things. Chiropractic care, nutrition, therapy and fun ways to exercise. We're on our phones all day, right? We’re on our computers; we’re always looking at screens. I don't know about you, but my shoulders are always hunched forward like I'm a gargoyle. And chiropractic care not only realigned my neck and my back, but it taught me how easy it is to prevent the kind of pain that we just kind of accept living with. I used to eat until it hurt. That's when I knew the meal was over, because it HURT. I was taught that you're supposed to finish everything on your plate, even if everything on your plate was way too much. So portion sizing, and making sure I had ample nutrition, has been instrumental in alleviating all of my stomach problems that came with a diet consisting of only, meat, carbs, and cheese. Stress has also been a very big contender of my life, and it's what I'm working hardest on in 2016to manage. So therapy has been wonderful in helping me kind of sort through all the leftover guilt of my sister's suicide, navigating new friendships, picking up the pieces of old ones, and it's just so great to have a psychology degree. Person tells me that there's nothing wrong with me, and I'm completely normal. And once I was eating healthier, and my body didn't hurt so much, and I was more emotionally stable, I could actually start working on my mind and my body, in fun and engaging ways. Like aerial silks class, or trapeze, or pole dancing, or rock climbing, or cross fit, or even just a regular old gym. And look, I'm not gonad lie, Healthy. . Is so hard, okay? It’s a commitment, and it's a lifestyle, and I often make the less healthy choice, you know? It’s an--It's a struggle. But I do think that we should strive to beat the healthiest we can be. Because the healthier you are, the happier you can be. So how are you gonad level up? I’m Anna Akuna. Stay awesome, Gotham. And I want to say thank you to Hello Fresh for sponsoring today's video.
